SAVANNAH, GA – The South Carolina State men's golf team is in first place after the first round of the eleven-team Savannah State Tiger Fall Invitational. The Bulldogs carded an 18-hole team total of 304, ten strokes ahead of Fayetteville State and Winston-Salem State, both at 314. The final 18 holes will be played Tuesday.

            Leading the way for SC State was a pair of first-year golfers – John P. Jones and Roberto Cacho, both with a 4-over par 75s, which tied them for fourth in the field. Also competing for the Bulldogs are sophomore Hector Arroyave, who carded a 5-over par 76 and is tied for sixth, Alejandro Bernardini with a 78 and Robert Biggers at 79.

            Winston-Salem State's Jerell Fields and Florida A&M's Wesley Yates both had 1-over par 72s to lead the field.
